Natalie Portman shares joyful glimpse into her ‘best birthday week ever’ after turning 45

The Oscar-winning actress has reflected on a milestone celebration abroad as she prepares for motherhood again while balancing a flourishing career and new life in France.

Natalie Portman has shared a glimpse into what she described as the “best birthday week ever”.

The Oscar-winning actress, who turned 45 on June 9, has since posted a collection of photographs from celebrations in Italy and Paris just days after toasting the milestone.

She reflected on the occasion in an Instagram post shared on Thursday (18.06.26), with her collection of celebratory images including a photograph of Natalie smiling beside a birthday cake, as well as scenes from her travels in Italy, a picture taken near the Eiffel Tower in Paris and an image showing Venus and Jupiter appearing close together in the night sky.

Her update comes during a significant period in Natalie’s personal life following the announcement in April she is expecting her third child – her first with partner Tanguy Destable, 46.

Natalie, who has lived primarily in Paris for more than a decade, shares two children, Aleph, 15, and Amalia, nine, with former husband Benjamin Millepied, 49.

The couple finalised their divorce in 2024.

Natalie wrote alongside her 45th birthday update: “The best birthday week ever – thanks for all the birthday wishes and to Italy for being the greatest.”

She added: “And if you look closely, in pic 12 you can see Venus and Jupiter almost touching.”

The birthday celebrations come less than two months after Natalie publicly announced her pregnancy.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar in April, she said about getting set to be a mother again: “Tanguy and I are very excited.”

Natalie added: “I’m just very grateful. I know it’s such a privilege and a miracle.”

The actress has largely built a life in Paris since relocating there in 2014 when Benjamin accepted a position as director of the Paris Opera Ballet.

According to People, Natalie chose to remain in France following the end of her marriage and has established a new life centred around her children and business interests.

An entertainment industry source told the publication: “She has a normal Parisian life. Her French is good and confident and shows how comfortable she has become here.”

The insider added: “She decided to stay here for her children’s education and built herself a new life around them and her businesses since her divorce from Benjamin. And the result is that she’s fallen in love with Paris.”

Natalie remains one of Hollywood’s most acclaimed performers, with a career spanning Black Swan, V for Vendetta, Closer, the Star Wars prequel trilogy and Marvel’s Thor franchise.

More recently, she appeared in Apple TV+ film Fountain of Youth and voiced a character in the animated adaptation of The Twits.

Earlier this year, Natalie starred in The Gallerist, portraying a Miami gallery owner in the film which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

The actress is also set to appear in Good Sex, directed by Lena Dunham, and Photograph 51.

Another source told People Tanguy, who performs electronic music under the stage name Tepr, is “very respected in the music scene”.

The insider added friends of the couple “describe him as no drama.”
