Spy Kids actor Daryl Sabara – who is married to All About That Bass singer Meghan Trainor – took to Instagram to share that his dad, Roland Sabara, who he only met “a couple of times”, had passed away.

The Spy Kids actor – who is married to All About That Bass singer Meghan Trainor – took to Instagram to share that his dad, Roland Sabara, who he only met “a couple of times”, had passed away.
He posted: “My Dad, Roland Sabara, passed away last night.
“We only saw each other a couple of times, and I will cherish those memories forever. I know he did the best he could, and I know he’s in a better place now.”
Sabara, 34, and Trainor, 32, have three children together. Their son Riley was born in February 2021 and son Barry arrived in July 2023.
The couple completed their family with the arrival of daughter Mikey Moon via surrogate in January 2026.
Daryl previously admitted that becoming a father had helped him to deal with his complicated feelings towards his own dad.
He told PEOPLE: “I’ll say that it’s pretty amazing because I didn’t have a dad growing up. My dad left my family when I was one. So becoming a dad has kind of given me this existential experience of getting to become the dad that I always wanted.”
Speaking before Barry’s birth, he also said: “The first pregnancy there is just so much unknown. And now for me, after becoming a dad, I’m like, ‘What did I do before?’ This is my life. This is the best. I feel so much purpose and just getting up with Riley and having a morning routine and making him breakfast and making Meghan breakfast and having that family time. Now I just can see that life is just going to get better and better with baby number two.
“I have no complaints so far. Even all the poopy diapers and Riley’s such a happy guy that all of it is pretty awesome. And he is my best friend, so I’m excited for a new best friend in a couple of weeks.”
