Oliver Tree’s body returns home to California

Oliver Tree, 32, was one of six victims of a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil earlier this month (14.01.26).

Oliver Tree’s body has been transported home to California.

The 32-year-old singer was one of six victims of a helicopter collision in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil earlier this month (14.01.26).

His team revealed the news in a post on Oliver’s official Instagram account on Sunday (22.06.26), writing: “Rest in peace Oliver Tree Nickell. Your legacy will live on forever.

“Oliver is now back in California where he can finally rest.”

It went on to explain Oliver’s “final wish” – a foundation established in his name – which he’d detailed in his will.

The post continued: “His legacy will live on through his foundation/endowment named ‘Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Grant For Baby Geniuses’ coming soon.

“This is something that Oliver had put together before his passing, written in his will.

“We will make sure his wish comes to fruition so that more joy, love and art can be spread into the world. That was his final wish.”

Oliver’s team went on to thank “everyone who has reached out, shown love, support and has done incredible tributes for Oliver”.

They added: “The constant love, support and positivity is helping the family, friends and collaborators make it through these extremely difficult times.

“Love you all so much, Oliver would be so proud of every one of his supporters, friends and family.”

Oliver was killed alongside 23-year-old YouTuber Gaspi – real name Gaspar Prim – 23, Brazilian DJ Lucas Frota, whose real name is Lucas Brito, two pilots and one other passenger in the collision.

The Rio de Janeiro Military Fire Department told the Associated Press that after the aircraft collided, they crashed into an electric car dealership.

One of the helicopters exploded after the crash, causing a fire that then spread through 20 of the vehicles at the dealership.

An investigation into the crash is underway, with the Aeronautical Accidents Investigation and Prevention Center expected to issue a report in due course.

Oliver was in the midst of a world tour that began on May 30 in Mexico City, in support of his new album Love You Madly, Hate You Badly.
