Kristin Cavallari has opened up about her complicated relationship with food.
Kristin Cavallari was “obsessed with [her] weight” during her 20s.
The 39-year-old TV personality has admitted to having a complicated relationship with food during her 20s, acknowledging that she had a “form of an eating disorder”.
Speaking on the Let’s Be Honest podcast, Kristin explained: “In my early 20s, I never had an eating disorder — actually, I probably would say this is a form of an eating disorder.
“I was obsessed with food. I was obsessed with it! I was obsessed with my weight. I would guilt myself all day, every day, and it was such a horrible way to live.”
Kristin acknowledged that she lived on a restricted diet during her younger years, but she’s struggled to define her food-related issues for a long time.
The reality TV star explained: “I was just eating salads with chicken and nothing else in it. Really bland and basic food and really being hyper aware of what I was putting in my body. But then what I would do is I would drink on the weekends and I would binge eat so I guess that is an eating disorder.
“Not trying to minimise it! I guess that is an eating disorder. This is the first time that I’m like, ‘Maybe it was.’”
Kristin feels “proud” that she’s managed to overcome her issues, and she’s now keen to help other women experiencing similar problems.
She said: “To see where I’ve gotten today with real freedom around food, it makes me so happy and I’m so proud. All I wanna do is help other people who have experienced a similar situation.”
Meanwhile, Kristin previously claimed that she could happily walk away from the entertainment industry.
The reality star explained that she planned to build a new life after turning 40.
Kristin – who turns 40 in January 2027 – told Bustle: “My celebrity could go away tomorrow and I would be really happy.
“I want to work for two or three more years and literally be done and then open up a coffee shop in a little beach town just for fun.”
