Didi Conn ‘scared’ of cosmetic surgery

Didi Conn, 74, isn’t interested in having cosmetic surgery or using injectables because she finds the idea scary.

Didi Conn is “scared” of the idea of cosmetic surgery.

The Grease actress doesn’t judge people who go under the knife or use injectables to minimise the signs of ageing, and though she sometimes wishes she could “lift” her face, it isn’t a path she plans to take.

She told People magazine: “It’s putting something foreign into your face. It scares me.”

The 74-year-old actress is letting herself age naturally, even though it took time to “reconcile” herself with the changes, though ultimately she thinks the gratitude she has for her long and healthy life helps her to “look better”.

She said: “My mother had beautiful skin, and I have to say, I inherited her skin.

“I never had acne. She had just the softest, most beautiful skin, and as I got older, people said, ‘Oh, Didi, you look so great.’ Then I hit menopause and there was a pause to, ‘Didi, you look so great.’

“I have so, so much to be grateful for, honestly. I learned this from my friend Olivia [Newton-John] about gratitude for what you have and God knows she struggled through a lot of things, so that’s what I do now. And you know what? It blesses you when you think of it. Your heart pumps and you look better, I think, when you can feel how grateful you are.”

Didi remained “very good friends” with her Grease co-star Olivia until the actress lost her battle with cancer in 2022 and she has particularly fond memories of watching her pal on stage.

She said: “Whenever I think about Olivia, I think about when I would see her go to her concerts, because she’d always do a Grease set at the end of her concert.”

Recalling a time when Olivia called her out from the crowd, she added: “She’d talked to the audience and she’d say, ‘Sometimes in life you make a friend and then you have that friend your whole life and. I have one like that here today.'”

The audience went “nuts” and Didi got to feel like a “rock star for five minutes” while they performed songs from the beloved musical together.

She tearfully added: “Then I would stand off stage and watch her to her last song, which was I Honestly Love You, and she’d stand there and sing … [and say to her fans] ‘I honestly love you.’ And she really meant it. She meant it with all her heart.”
