Kid Rock values his friendship with President Donald Trump, particularly their late-night phone calls.
Kid Rock “enjoys the hell out of hanging out with” President Donald Trump.
The 55-year-old musician – whose real name is Robert Ritchie – is a devoted supporter of the US leader and he revealed they often have late-night chats, though he stressed they are not deep political discussions.
Speaking on Sky News Australia’s one-hour special, Trump’s America: 250 Years in the Making, the All Summer Long hitmaker was asked what it is like to have a “buddy that’s running the world.”
He replied: “F****** awesome. I enjoy the hell out of hanging out with him and talking with him and just having a front row seat to the greatest shit show on Earth.”
And asked if Trump ever texts him “randomly”, Rock confirmed he did and added of calling the preseident: “It’s one of my late-night drinking tricks, because I know when to get him.
“He’s so gracious, he always picks up, or he’ll call and check in just to shoot the s***.
“He’s not calling me to [ask], ‘Hey, what should we do in Iran, Bob?’ I don’t get those calls.
“But, if I’m sitting around having some beers, if it’s like 11, 12, on a Friday or Saturday, I know he’s up. He sleeps like me, he sleeps five hours.”
Earlier this year, Kid Rock headlined the All-American Halftime Show, a Super Bowl halftime show alternative hosted by Turning Point USA in protest at Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny topping the bill during the break in the NFL showpiece.
He later insisted he “didn’t understand any” of Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show, which featured the Grammy Award-winning rapper performing Spanish-language songs and extravagant choreography.
Kid Rock told The Ingraham Angle: “I didn’t understand any of it. I saw there’s a lot of dancers and a lot of big to-do stuff.
“And, you know, he said he wanted to have a dance party; it looked like he had one.
“Not my cup of tea, but I don’t fault that kid for doing the Super Bowl, getting in front of a global audience.
“I fault the NFL for putting him in that position and Turning Point for having to come out and have an alternative for people to watch. You know, it’s just – poor kid.”
The Only God Knows Why singer’s comments came after Trump heavily criticised Bad Bunny’s show on Truth Social.
He wrote: “The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER!
“It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence.
“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World. “This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day – including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History! (sic)”
Bad Bunny, 31, took to the stage at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California halfway through the Seattle Seahawks’ game with the New England Patriots and performed some of his biggest hits, including Tití Me Preguntó, MONACO and BAILE INoLVIDABLE.
The artist – whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – also welcomed guest performers such as Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin onto the stage during his set, which also featured cameos from the likes of Pedro Pascal, Cardi B, Karol G and Jessica Alba.
