The 36-year-old pop superstar married NFL player Travis Kelce in a lavish gathering for 1,000 guests at Madison Square Garden in New York on Friday (03.07.26) but despite the extensive guest list, Jamie’s 10-year-old son Leo was not a part of the celebrations even though the singer is his Godmother – and Jaime has now insisted her son was just “too young” to be a part of the event.
A spokesperson for the actress told New York Post column PageSix: “The reason Jaime chose Taylor as Leo Thames’ Godmother is because they both believe that being a godmother is a deeply personal and spiritual commitment that has nothing to do with public appearance.
“Leo Thames is still too young for a large adult wedding celebration … “
However, the representative revealed were still able to celebrate Taylor’s marriage in private during the youngster’s break from school. They added: “[Leo] and his mother were able to joyfully celebrate Taylor and Kelce’s marriage in his own very special, age-appropriate way during his summer break.”
Taylor has five Godchildren and PageSix previously reported none of them attended the wedding.
The Love Story singer is also Godmother to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ kids James, 11, Inez, nine, Betty, six, and Olin, three, but none of the children attended and neither did their parents.
The only youngsters said to have been included in the ceremony were Jason Kelce’s daughters, who served as flower girls.
A source told the publication Taylor and Jaime just aren’t close friends any more, saying: “Taylor gets really close to the people in front of her fast. She and Jaime just happened to be friends when Jaime was pregnant, and that’s why Jaime asked [Swift to be godmother] – but they didn’t have a super long history together.
“Taylor and Jaime haven’t been spotted together in years.”
Taylor and Travis invited around 1,000 guests to their wedding including Hollywood royalty including Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg while the singer also seemingly patched up her former friendship with model Karlie Kloss, who also snagged a coveted invitation to the glitzy bash.
