News of Josh Grisetti’s death was revealed by actor Rob McClure on Instagram.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Josh Grisetti has died aged 44 after taking his own life.

The screen star committed suicide on Friday (10.07.26), with the news of his passing revealed by actor Rob McClure on Instagram.

He wrote: “It is with a shattered heart that I share that the brilliant Josh Grisetti took his own life on Friday.

“I’m not ready to even attempt to understand. My heart is with his wife and family as they try to deal with the reality of this. Some of my all-time favourite memories were by this man’s side, playing his brother onstage for years, watching him inspire students while transforming the Musical Theatre program at Cal State Fullerton …and having the honour of being the Best Man at his wedding.”

Josh wed Mackenzie Perpich in 2020, and was previously married to Candice Ross from 2009 to 2015.

Rob went on to say that he and wife Maggie Lakis are “beyond heartbroken”, adding: “Communities around the world will never be the same without him.

“We love you Josh. Just a cataclysmic loss.”

He concluded his post by saying that “memorial info” will “come in time”.

Josh was most well known among TV fans for playing Ralph Emerson in the fifth, final, season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

He was also an established theatre star, appearing on Broadway in shows including Something Rotten! and It Shoulda Been You.

As well as his acting career, Josh served as head of the Musical Theatre program at California State University.

The comments section of Rob’s post was quickly flooded with tributes to Josh, with many of them coming from Broadway stars.

While Rachel Zegler kept it simple with a red love heart emoji, Tony-winning actor Donna Murphy wrote: “Oh my God Rob. Such truly devastating and heartbreaking news. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful, gifted human and artist. You and your family and Josh’s family and dearest ones are in my heart and highest thoughts and prayers.”

As Stephanie J Block-Arcelus added: “What a kind and beautiful soul. I am so so sorry for this great loss. Sending you and all those who loved him comfort and strength.”
