Movie star Anthony Michael Hall has confessed to being surprised by his own longevity.

The 58-year-old actor is celebrating his 50th year in the entertainment industry, and Anthony admits that he’s already managed to exceed his own expectations in Hollywood.
He told People: “I thought it was 49, but my mom recently reminded me that I was eight when I got my first job.”
Anthony started out doing commercials and plays as a child before landing his first major role in National Lampoon’s Vacation at 14, and he has barely stopped working since.
The veteran actor said: “I’m still working! I’m actively building up my production company and just always working, year-round. I’m blessed to have had such a long career.”
But despite pride in his professional achievements, Anthony’s greatest accomplishment is closer to home.
The actor – who married actress Lucia Oskerova in 2020 – said: “I have found my soulmate. I have, and I love her. And being a dad. It’s a full-time job … but we love it. We just embrace it, and he’s such a joy. Fatherhood and being a husband — that’s absolutely the greatest role.”
Anthony also spoke warmly about his experiences filming the new Fox competition series Nation’s Dumbest, despite admitting he had spent years dismissing the genre.
He said: “I’d just spent the last 20 years of my life talking s*** about reality shows, because my wife is really into them. But I agreed, not knowing what it would be like, and it was just the best.”
Meanwhile, Anthony previously confessed to finding fame “scary” during his younger years.
The actor likened fame to a horror movie, and explained that he initially struggled to adapt to fame and success.
He told The Independent: “Fame was off-putting and kind of scary.
“It’s not unlike a horror movie. When celebrity hits you, all of a sudden people are staring at you and looking at you in odd ways. Even though I was just a pubescent teenager, suddenly I was thrown into this world of showbusiness. You don’t know what people are thinking, people are whispering about you, and it’s a strange thing to have to adjust to.”
