Real Madrid and France forward Kylian Mbappé has been announced as the cover star of EA Sports FC 27 Ultimate Edition, with the football superstar also fronting EA Sports FC Mobile ahead of the game’s full reveal.
Kylian Mbappé has been unveiled as the cover star of EA Sports FC 27 Ultimate Edition, marking the French forward’s return to the franchise cover for the first time in four years.
Electronic Arts confirmed the Real Madrid and France star will headline the premium edition of this year’s football title, while he has also been named the new cover athlete for EA Sports FC Mobile.
The announcement kicks off a week of reveals for EA Sports FC 27, with EA set to showcase the game’s first gameplay trailer on Thursday (23.07.26).
Reacting to the announcement, Mbappé said appearing on the cover of an EA Sports FC game for the first time was a significant milestone in his career.
He said: “To be featured on the cover of an EA SPORTS FC title for the first time is a very special moment for me.
“It’s an honour to continue my long-term relationship with the franchise in its latest chapter, alongside the players who have shaped its history. I can’t wait for everyone to experience FC 27.”
EA Sports also welcomed Mbappé back to the series, describing him as one of the defining footballers of his generation.
Jeff Sharma, Vice President of Franchise Strategy and Marketing at EA Sports FC, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Kylian back to the franchise as the cover star of EA SPORTS FC 27.
“Kylian’s achievements for both club and country have established him as one of the defining players of his generation. He embodies the ambition, creativity and global appeal that defines EA SPORTS FC today, and we’re proud to continue our partnership with him as he returns to lead EA SPORTS FC 27.”
Mbappé’s latest cover appearance follows another impressive campaign since joining Real Madrid in 2024.
The striker finished as LaLiga EA Sports’ leading scorer in each of his first two seasons in Spain and claimed the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Golden Boot after scoring 15 goals during the competition.
He also carried his club form onto the international stage with a series of standout performances for France over the summer, where he became the first player to win the FIFA World Cup Golden Boot twice after netting 10 goals for Les Bleus at the tournament in North America.
EA’s cover star announcement is the first in a series of reveals for EA Sports FC 27.
The publisher has confirmed the game’s first gameplay trailer will premiere on YouTube at 5pm BST on July 23, offering fans their first detailed look at this year’s instalment ahead of its full release.
