Emma Chamberlain felt ‘depleted’ by podcasting

Emma Chamberlain has explained why she stepped back from podcasting.

Emma Chamberlain felt “emotionally really depleted” by podcasting.

The 25-year-old influencer announced earlier this year that she was taking an indefinite break from her Anything Goes podcast, and Emma has now opened up about her decision.

Appearing on Emma Grede’s Aspiring podcast, she explained: “It got to a point for me [with YouTube] where I felt emotionally really depleted from it.

“That was like really hard for me to admit because I had my dream job.”

Emma admits that she struggled to cope with the pressures of fame and success.

She said: “For whatever reason became really challenging and kind of like upsetting for me.

“That bled into my real life outside of my work life. And then it was like, okay, I can’t do this anymore and I need to step away from it in a big way.”

Emma has felt a sense of relief since taking a step back from the YouTube sphere.

She reflected: “I did that for so many years and I talked for so many hundreds of hours and you reach a point where you’re like, I can’t do this anymore.”

Emma announced that she was taking a break from her podcast in April.

The influencer recorded a 17-minute video in which she explained the reasons for her decision.

She said at the time: “I am taking a little podcast break.

“I don’t know how long the break’s going to be. I wish I had answers for you. I don’t have answers for you. I’m taking an indefinite podcast break.”

Emma acknowledged that some of her fans might feel let down by the decision. However, she explained that it had been a long time coming.

She shared: “It did kind of come out of left field. However, it has been something I’ve been ruminating on for a while now and been avoiding.”

Once Emma experienced her “aha moment”, she knew she needed to share the news with her loyal fans.

She explained: “Once I knew that I needed to do it, it was like, ‘Okay, I got to do it’.”
