Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter to star in Shakespeare play

Suri, 20, will be taking on a role in Midsummer! – a modern take on beloved play A Midsummer Night’s Dream – at Carnegie Mellon University.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter is following in her parents’ footsteps by kicking off her acting career in a William Shakespeare play.

Suri, 20, will be taking on a role in Midsummer! – a modern take on beloved play A Midsummer Night’s Dream – at Carnegie Mellon University.

The play, which will take place at the Trust Arts Education Center’s Peirce Studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will be running for 90 minutes, and from July 31 to August 1.

It will then go to Scotland for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, where it will be performed from August 7 to August 21.

It’s unclear at this stage whether or not Suri will be travelling to Scotland for that leg of the production.

According to the New York Post’s Page Six, Suri is studying musical theatre at Carnegie Mellon, after graduating from New York’s LaGuardia High School in 2024.

It’s not the first time Suri has taken to the stage – she played a character called Angel in a staged reading of Cosmic Microwave Background in March this year.

She has previously sung on mum Katie’s projects Alone Together and Rare Objects, with Katie admitting it means a lot to have her daughter involved.

Katie told Glamour magazine: “I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her. Both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people.

“And it’s this safe, beautiful, creative space. So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly.”

“That’s how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she’s my heart.”

Katie welcomed daughter Suri into the world in 2006 – the same year she married baby daddy Tom.

She filed for divorce in 2012, with the pair finalising the split later that year, and is believed to have had sole custody of Suri prior to her 18th birthday.

Suri later made the decision to swap her dad’s surname for her mum’s middle name, and now goes by Suri Noelle.
