Larry the Cable Guy is “recovering well” after being discharged from hospital following an appendicitis diagnosis.
The 63-year-old comedian-and-actor, real name Cara Whitney, was rushed to a hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Thursday night (23.07.26), after his appendix became infected and swollen, and after a two-day stay, the star returned home on Saturday (25.07.26), TMZ reported.
His representative told the Daily Mail: “I can confirm that Larry was hospitalised with appendicitis. He was discharged today and is recovering well. He’s in good spirits and feeling much better.”
Larry’s health ordeal forced him to delay filming episodes for his upcoming syndicated CBS series, American Mayhem, TMZ reported.
According to Variety, the logline for the 52-episode weekly comedy clip show, which debuts this fall, reads: “Comedian Larry The Cable Guy brings his signature heartland humour to a fast-paced collection of the funniest and most relatable clips from across the country.
“With his blue-collar sensibility and deep roots in American culture, Larry brings instant authenticity and comedy to every clip—turning everyday chaos into a celebration of real people, real places, and real American mayhem.
“From backyard mishaps and weekend DIY disasters to pets stealing the spotlight and celebrations that don’t go quite as planned, Larry guides viewers through the lighter side of life – turning everyday moments into shared laughter.”
Larry – who voices Tow Mater in Disney Pixar’s Cars franchise – teased that viewers will be left in stitches by American Mayhem, produced by V10 Entertainment and distributed by CBS Media Ventures.
Per Variety, he said in a statement: “Situations that go off the rails have always been prime entertainment – as long as it’s not you! – and my new show American Mayhem is just that: a laugh a minute while you wipe yer eyes safely at home.”
