LEGO Ideas are releasing a new 1,478-piece model inspired by The X-Files.
Gillian Anderson has praised a “wonderful” LEGO tribute to The X-Files.
The 57-year-old actress became a household name playing Dana Scully opposite David Duchovny as Fox Mulder in the sci-fi series -w hich ran from 1993 to 2002 and was reprised for a 10th season in 2016 – and she has revisted the character in honour of the new 1,478-piece model from the LEGO Ideas range.
The set recreates iconic moments from the series, focusing on a detailed model of Fox Mulder’s office, teamed with a forest clearing scene and a hovering UFO and comes with minifigures of Mulder and Scully, as well as Walter Skinner, Mr. X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, The Flukeman and a grey alien.
And to mark the release of the model, Gillian has starred in a mini-film tribute to the series, which sees her drawn into an investigation that ultimately leads to her uncovering the LEGO set, piece by piece.
She said: “I didn’t expect to be stepping back into Scully’s heels to investigate a LEGO set… it has been so much fun revisiting that world all these years later. This set is a wonderful celebration of the X-Files, and the fans who have kept its mystery alive. The level of detail is brilliant – there are so many little nods that fans will absolutely recognise – and as a LEGO fan myself, I love that people can now quite literally build their own X-Files moments at home.”
The LEGO Ideas The X-Files set was submitted as part of the LEGO Ideas ’90s Nostalgia Challenge by Brisbane-based 3D Artist and Fan Designer Brent Waller.
Brent said: “I was obsessed with The X-Files from the moment I first saw it in the ’90s. I originally built Mulder’s office back in 2014 while rewatching the series, and it grew from there as a personal project. I wanted to combine nostalgia, detail and storytelling to capture the atmosphere of the show – from Mulder’s office to the forest and UFO encounter. I’m thrilled to see it become an official LEGO set and hope it resonates with both long-time fans and new audiences.”
