Sid Wilson acknowledges Slipknot exit after 28 years

Former Slipknot keyboarding and turntablist Sid Wilson is “no longer associated” with the iconic band.

Sid Wilson has acknowledged his Slipknot exit after almost three decades.

The 49-year-old keyboardist and turntablist has parted ways with the Psychosocial heavy metal legends, after the band confirmed his departure in a since-deleted statement which didn’t explain the reasons for the split.

Although Sid is yet to offer an explanation himself, he has changed his Instagram bio to reflect his exit from the Wait And Bleed rockers.

It now reads: “@Slipknot 1997-2026”.

Sid’s departure after 28 years was originally reported three weeks ago, and Slipknot finally addressed the news on Friday (14.08.26) after plenty of speculation.

In a statement shared on Instagram and their website which has since been deleted, Slipknot wrote: “Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson. We wish him the best in his future endeavours.”

The post can still be seen on the Instagram account for Knotfest, the music festival created by the band in 2012.

Their post added in the caption: “Slipknot have parted ways with Sid Wilson. The announcement could briefly be found on the band’s website.”

TMZ first reported Sid’s departure, citing “a source close to the band and with direct knowledge”.

They added that “it’s currently unclear what led to him getting the boot”, but said Sid had been notified that he had “been permanently kicked out of the band”.

The report came just weeks after Wilson split from fiancee Kelly Osbourne – with whom he shares three-year-old son Sidney.

Before the band’s statement, Slipknot guitarist Jim Root had taken to his own Instagram Stories to apparently address the rumour.

In his post, set to the tune of Slipknot’s 2008 tune Til We Die, he wrote: “Don’t believe everything you read.

“Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”

Sid joined Slipknot in 1998, shortly before the band released their self-titled debut album.

None of the other remaining members of the group – including Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan and singer Corey Taylor – have responded to the TMZ story.

Slipknot last performed live at the Inkcarceration music and tattoo festival in Ohio in July 2025.
