Diane Warren saves viral pig, promises him a ‘really good home’

Diane Warren has vowed to give a pig who went viral running through the streets of West Hollywood last weekend a “really good home”.

Diane Warren has vowed to give a pig who went viral running through Hollywood a “really good home”.

The 69-year-old songwriter came face-to-face with Wilbur for the first time on Wednesday (19.08.26) and is looking forward to developing a bond with her new porcine pal, who caused a sensation last weekend when he was seen speeding through the streets of West Hollywood on his own.

In footage shared by ABC 7 of Diane meeting Wilbur at the West LA Animal Shelter, she said: “Oh my God. You’re so cute.

“Look, you’re gonna have a really good home. What are you doing running around Hollywood like that?”

There had been a huge interest from local residents about adopting Wilbur, who is named after the pig in beloved children’s book Charlotte’s Web, so the animal shelter held a silent auction.

And Marcia Zwilling, managing director of the Diane Warren Foundation, placed the winning bid on behalf of the award-winning writer.

She said: “Diane saw the news clips and saw the little pig running in West Hollywood, and she just called me and said, ‘Please get the pig, get the pig! Get the pig. Save the pig.’ “

Wilbur’s new home will be at a seven-acre animal sanctuary in Malibu – but he may need a new name as Diane already has another Wilbur.

This isn’t the first time the Superwoman hitmaker has come to the aid of a runaway animal.

In 2021, Diane stepped in to save a cow which had escaped from a slaughterhouse in Southern California.

She contacted the city of Pico Rivera and arranged to have the creature sent to Farm Sanctuary in the state after seeing the animal on the news “crying out” as wranglers tried to catch it.

She added at the time: “This isn’t my first cow I’ve saved. But this feels like a special cow. Because this was that one. So it’s almost like she represents all cows wanting to be free.”

Diane is often seen with a bird on her shoulder while going about her everyday business.

Singer Taylor Dayne recently told People magazine: “I’m like, ‘Who the F shows up with a bird on their shoulder constantly?’

“I’m like, ‘How do you go to lunch with that?’ She goes, ‘Shut up, Taylor.’ Like, ‘I’m going to lunch with the bird.’ Animals always came first with Diane, so I kind of got it. And then she would never clean up her studio.

“There’s a million stories about Diane, but her humanity is always animals first and humans later. And therapy.”
