Travis Kelce bought a new house just a few months before marrying Taylor Swift.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end tied the knot with the Opalite singer in July after three years together, and it has now emerged that back in March, he splashed out $5.35 million on a lakefront mansion in Cleveland, Ohio, which is just a few miles from where he grew up.
The Agency Cleveland, which represented either side of the purchase, told the Wall Street Journal: “We’re thrilled for the new owners and so excited for Cleveland.”
Travis is the sole owner of the eight-bedroom, 11-bathroom property, which features more than 21,000 sq ft of living space and is set on 3.5 acres along Lake Erie.
The house recently underwent a year-long series of renovations, with vast restoration works including the original door hardware, intricate walnut and oak carvings, and multiple fireplaces.
Travis’ new house is ideal for entertaining because there is a games room and home theatre in the original ballroom, while a lower level boasts a billiards room, poker area, bar, and temperature-controlled wine cellar and tasting room. He’ll be able to stay match fit thanks to the fitness centre and sauna, while there’s a heated pool outside overlooking the lake. There is also a two-bedroom guest house within the grounds.
Meanwhile, Travis recently hailed his wedding to Taylor – which took place in front of 1,000 guests at New York’s Madison Square Garden – as the “best night of [his] life”.
Asked how his off-season had been, he told reporters last month: “It was a fun offseason, man.
“Wedding was the best night of my life, and I appreciate everybody who came out and celebrated and had fun with us.
“I appreciate everyone who came out and celebrated and had fun with us. That’s about all I really got from that night. It was a crazy night. It was full of a lot of celebration.”
He was particularly honoured to have been able to tie the knot in the iconic venue.
He said: “It’s kind of cool to be able to live out my childhood dream of being in that venue, the mecca of all sports venues, being able to get married in there.
“I can’t thank the owners of MSG enough for allowing us to get the opportunity to do that, knowing that we wanted a private event and everything. It was perfect. And the AC was cooking, baby! That was the best part.”
The 36-year-old sportsman noted his focus is now back on “football, baby”.
