Sabrina Carpenter ‘incredibly proud’ after Emmy win

Sabrina Carpenter earned the gong for Best Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for The Muppet Show – which she executive produced and also performed on – at the Creative Art Emmys on Saturday night (05.09.26).

Sabrina Carpenter is “incredibly proud” after winning her first-ever Emmy Award.

The Please, Please, Please star earned the gong for Best Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for The Muppet Show – which she executive produced and also performed on – at the Creative Art Emmys on Saturday night (05.09.26).

The award means Sabrina is now halfway to becoming an EGOT winner – after taking home two Grammys earlier this year.

There are just 28 people in the world who are EGOTs, having won an Emmy Award, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony, including John Legend, Jennifer Hudson and Viola Davis.

Following her Emmy win, Sabrina took to her Instagram Stories to reflect on the honour, as she shared snaps alongside the show’s most famous puppets – Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.

She thanked the Television Academy, before adding: “So incredibly proud of the whole Muppets crew on our Emmy wins.

“A lot of love and happiness and hard work and diva fights went into making this special.”

The Muppet Show took home four of the six awards it was nominated for on Saturday night – Best Writing for a Variety Special, Best Picture Editing for Variety Programming, Best Production Design for a Variety Special and Best Variety Special.

In winning the latter, Sabrina beat close friend Taylor Swift – who had been nominated in the same category for her Disney+ special Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show.

Sabrina’s win at Saturday’s awards mean she’s also tied with Taylor in the race to become an EGOT winner.

However, it seems as though Taylor could be soon earning the ‘O’ part of the acronym, as she’s widely considered to be the frontrunner to take home the Best Original Song Oscar for I Knew It, I Knew You from Toy Story 5 at the Oscars on March 14 (27).
