The Hot Girl Summer rapper wants to be the symbol of the season, just like how pop and R+B megastar Mariah, 57, is the Queen of Christmas thanks to her 1994 festive global hit, All I Want for Christmas Is You.
Megan, 31, told the new issue of InStyle magazine: “I want to be the Mariah of Summer. I love Mariah Carey.
“Mariah is Christmas. As soon as November starts, we just hear Mariah hit that high note. Boom. That’s her s***.
“Me, June 21st. As soon as summer starts, boom, it’s Megan.”
She added: “I’m not playing.”
Last month, Megan signed a new deal with Interscope Records, which will handle the global distribution of her music and provide strategic support for her upcoming releases through her own entertainment company, Hot Girl Productions.
And the three-time Grammy winner – who released her first album, Good News, in 2020, followed by 2022’s Traumazine and Megan in 2024 – will retain complete control and ownership of her masters and publishing.
In a statement, Megan said: “I’ve always wanted to create music on my terms while building a legacy that extends beyond the industry. This distribution partnership with Interscope allows me to stay true to my creative vision while also increasing my global reach.
“I’m excited for this next chapter of growth and the expansion of my Hot Girl Productions empire.”
