The As If It’s Your Last hitmaker is joined in the K-pop group by Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé, and amid their various solo endeavours, there is no rivalry because they just want to see one another do well.
Lisa told E! News at the premiere of her documentary Always LaLisa at the Toronto International Film Festival: “They’re like my sisters. They’re like my family. And of course, even though we are doing all solo stuff, we still text each other.
“And even though Always LaLisa is gonna be out soon, they texted me, and they’re like, ‘Oh, can’t wait to watch it!’”
Lisa teased that the documentary will let fans see her work in ways they’ve never seen before.
Asked what fans can expect from Always LaLisa, she said: “They [get] to see all the behind the scenes, like how I work. I hope they enjoy it.”
The 29-year-old singer was born Pranpriya Manobal but recently revealed she legally changed her first name to Lalisa – which translates to “one who is praised” in her native Thai – when she was 13 at the suggestion of a fortune teller, and she is still happy with her decision.
She said: “It’s just me from the start. I feel like I’m always Lalisa from the start.”
The White Lotus actress visited the fortune teller after auditioning to join the talent agency and record label YG Entertainment.
She told America’s Vanity Fair magazine in June: “I don’t know about the culture here, but in Thailand, it’s fun to go see a fortune teller.”
After the woman suggested the name change, Lisa recalled she said: “You know what? I’ll do anything.”
In 2025, Lisa admitted she feels proud of what she’s managed to achieve with BLACKPINK.
She told ELLE: “When I’m onstage [with BLACKPINK], I share my energy with my members. If she gives 100, I’ll give 120. We can feel each other. And I love that energy.”
Lisa has focused on her solo material in recent times, but she also remains committed to the girl group.
She explained: “Of course we’re continuing, for sure.
“We’re so proud of BLACKPINK, and I love BLACKPINK. It is not just because of our fans, it’s for ourselves. There was no doubt. This is our life.”
Lisa’s experience as a solo artist has helped her to become more decisive in recent years, too.
She shared: “I think what I’ve learned from last time is me, myself, saying what I like and what I don’t like.
“I think that’s the most important. Because if I say, ‘Ah, it’s okay,’ [people] don’t know – like, am I really okay with it? So I have to be able to say ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ Not in between.”
