Olivia Cooke has revealed which festive movie was a “very formative” moment for her.
Olivia Cooke had a “sexual awakening” the first time she watched Bad Santa.
The 32-year-old actress made the racy confession after her A Talent For Murder castmate Dame Helen Mirren described Billy Bob Thornton’s 2003 comedy as her favourite festive movie.
She told Entertainment Weekly: “I had a very formative sexual, like, thing. I was… never mind…
“I had an awakening, watching Billy Bob in a jacuzzi. An awakening, yeah.”
The dark comedy stars Thornton as Willie, who is a miserable alcoholic con man who dresses up as Santa and robs department stores on Christmas Eve.
During the movie, Willie has a relationship with Sue (Lauren Graham), which includes a romp in a hot tub.
Responding to Olivia’s confession, Helen quipped: “I’ll tell him that when I see him.”
Their A Talent For Murder co-star Alden Ehrenreich revealed an awakening of his own, when he first watched Steven Spielberg’s 1991 family classic Hook, which starred Robin Williams as a grown up Peter Pan.
He said: “I have that with the mermaids in Hook. When they kissed him to bring him back to life.
“I was kind of, like, 4 or 5 and I was, like, ‘Something… I feel things that I don’t understand.’”
Olivia is no stranger to steamy scenes herself, including stripping off for her role in 2025’s The Girlfriend, but she has since revealed her heart sinks when she sees intimate moments written into a script.
She told The Sun: “It’s odd, isn’t it? It’s an odd part of the job. You see it looming in the schedule and you’re like, Jesus Christ! For some reason, it’s all happened to me as I’ve turned 30. It’s happening quite a lot … it’s happening all the time.
“My career at the moment is like the humiliation of Olivia Cooke.”
Olivia explained even the preparation for intimate scenes can be uncomfortable.
She said: “You have to wear these intimacy garments – sort of nudity covers – which are basically like a bit of gusset with a silicon pad in it that you have to tape to yourself.
“And it’s really hard because it’s got sticky on it and it gets twisted and the sticky gets stuck together and it’s hard to put on.”
She credited her dresser, Alexandra Bland, with helping her through.
Olivia said: “Alex is from the Lake District and she was like, ‘F****** hell Olivia, just bend over – let me help you’. And so I bent over and I’m spreading – it’s so mortifying. But rise above and disassociate – out of body… this is weird, this is odd.”
