Bethenny Frankel has a ‘strained’ relationship Jason Hoppy

Bethenny Frankel has reflected on her relationship with Jason Hoppy, her ex-husband.

Bethenny Frankel is “not exactly” on cordial terms with ex-husband Jason Hoppy.

The 55-year-old TV star was married to Jason between 2010 and 2021, and she admits that they still have an uneasy relationship after their acrimonious split.

Appearing on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Bethenny quipped: “We do coexist on this earth. We do both exist on this earth, so that’s positive. It’s been a strained year, it’s been a challenging year.”

The former couple welcomed daughter Bryn in 2010, before splitting in 2012.

However, it took years for Bethenny and Jason to finalise the terms of their divorce.

She shared: “There were a lot of circumstances that have been, that are … torture, like, traumatic. Like, 10 years [in court for] a two-year marriage and, like, every single branch on the tree [has been affected].”

Bethenny also opened up about her relationship with Bryn, whom she considers to be one of her best friends.

The TV star said: “When you parent, it’s not like you parent and it happens passively. You take long drives, you hang out, you go to dinner.

“Parents are very transactional and, like, we have the meal and then we drive; it has to flow. I love her so much, [she’s] the best.

“When we vibe and we are watching something and we’re laughing, we connect, but sometimes we’re on different paths. We’re very much like Thelma and Louise, [and] we are like roommates in a way.”

Bethenny has a roommate-like relationship with her daughter.

She said: “We are very connected and we love to be together and we respect each other’s space and what we’re both going through and doing.

“That’s why it feels almost like a roommate in a way. We’re in totally different chapters of our lives, obviously, and we respect each other’s chapters.”

Meanwhile, Bethenny previously confessed that she’s “afraid” to date.

The Real Housewives of New York City star – who has been married twice and was engaged to Paul Bernon for three years until May 2024 – said in a TikTok video: “I’m afraid to date. It’s not like I’m actually actively afraid. It’s like, I am so hesitant, because you know how, like, when you get food poisoning, you’re just scared to eat that food again, even though rationally you know that, like, you’re likely not gonna get food poisoning again from that same food, but you just can’t bring yourself to do it?”
