The Migos star, 35, is “proud” to be a dad to a baby girl, and the little one’s birth has brought a “new hunger” and “fire” to the rapper and record producer.
Asked if fatherhood has started to change him, he said on Complex’s Idea Generation podcast: “I mean, that’s just adding more fuel to the fire.
“It’s a blessing that God gave me.
“It’s just a whole [new] state. It brings joy to me. It brings a new light.
“It brings a new reason why I’m doing this.
“It brings a new hunger, a new fire to me. I’m just proud to be a father now, ‘cause we used to always talk about that. So, I’m just happy.
“To see my family love her just like me, it’s just beautiful.”
Quavo – whose new solo album Qromelife, which is executive produced by Pharrell Williams, is due to drop on Friday (02.10.26) – suffered family tragedy in 2022 when his nephew and Migos collaborator Takeoff was shot dead, aged 28.
The Open It Up hitmaker – whose real name is Quavious Keyate Marshall – later paid tribute to Takeoff.
He wrote on Instagram: “It’s so hard to tell you Ima miss you because you [were] always with me and we did everything together. Thought we were gonna be pro wrestlers. Nothing ever really bothered Take and he didn’t bother anybody. He the most unbothered person in the world. He never go mad, he never raised his voice, and when he did, he silenced the room because what Take said was law and he wasn’t changing his mind.”
Quavo also told how he had been trying to work out what his nephew was to him, because the pair “hated” the family term nephew to describe their relationship.
He added: “This whole time I’ve been trying to figure what you really are to me because nephew wasn’t it. We hated that word ’nephew’ or when they said ‘Unc and Phew’ cuz we always knew we were closer than that and it made me feel old too. But I knew you weren’t my brother cuz you are my sister’s son, so I couldn’t say brother. Now I finally get it… you are OUR angel”(sic)
