Diane Keaton died of primary bacterial pneumonia on October 11, 2025, at the age of 79.
Diane Keaton’s daughter has paid an emotional tribute to the legendary actress on the first anniversary of her death.
The Oscar winner died of primary bacterial pneumonia on October 11, 2025, at the age of 79, and Dexter, 31, took to Instagram a year later to remember her mom.
She shared a sweet black-and-white shot of the pair on her wedding day in 2021, with the caption: “One year without you, Mom.
“It somehow feels like yesterday and forever ago all at once. I’m still trying to get used to a world where I can’t call you, have you there for a hug, or go on adventures with you.
“It’s the everyday moments that remind me just how much I wish you were still here.
“I love you and I miss you. Always.”
It comes nine months after Dexter and her brother Duke, 26, celebrated Diane on what would have been her 80th birthday on January 5.
Taking to Instagram, she shared two pictures to mark the occasion; the first being the mom-and-daughter duo hugging as they looked out to the ocean during the daytime, and the second of her and Duke’s arms together as they showed off their new black-ink tattoos.
Her brother’s inking read: “Weird old world,” while Dexter’s says: “La Di Da.”
Dexter captioned the overall post with: “I miss you, mom. Thank you @winterstone for my forever reminder of my wonderful mom. (sic)”
She also took to her Instagram Stories, where she shared a photo of her black-and-white, polka-dotted nails – a nod to Diane’s style.
Dexter wrote over the image: “Happy heavenly birthday, momma.”
On Mother’s Day (10.05.26), she took to Instagram to honour Diane.
Dexter shared cute photos of herself and the Annie Hall star on a beach when she was a child, Diane giving her daughter a hug on her wedding day, and of The Family Stone alum kissing Dexter as they posed in a garden.
The post’s caption read: “First Mother’s Day without you.
“I miss you more than words can say.
“Missing her voice, her hugs, her presence, and everything that made her home.
“I love you, Mom.”
Diane adopted Dexter and Duke in 1996 and 2001, respectively.
