Robert Pattinson gives update on The Batman Part II: ‘We’re pausing for a little bit’

Robert Pattinson has opened up about the status of The Batman Part II.

Robert Pattinson has promised The Batman Part II filming will get figured out.

The 40-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as billionaire Bruce Wayne and his Caped Crusader alter ego in Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated follow-up to his 2022 DC Studios blockbuster, but production was recently paused.

Speaking to Official Pop Drop, Pattinson said: “Yeah, we’re pausing for a little bit, and then we’re going to figure it all out.”

Filming for the sequel has been underway in London since June, but early last week it was revealed work on the movie has been paused to allow Reeves to deal with a “family matter”.

A representative said in a statement: “Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter.

“Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.”

The spokesperson did not given any more details about the situation, while Deadline has now reported that there is currently no change to the movie’s planned release date of February 18, 2028.

In July, it was revealed that Warner Bros. has pushed the sequel’s release to 18 February 2028, having previously scheduled it for October 2026 before moving it to October 2027.

Reeves is writing and directing the follow up to his 2022 movie The Batman, which introduced Pattinson as the titular hero.

The Twilight Saga star will be back for the sequel, but he has played down the idea of his Batman entering the wider DC Universe on the big screen.

He recently told LADBible: “I think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of Matt’s world.

“It’s one of the only characters I guess because of the length of the shoots but also it’s such a specific kind of [style], the tone of it gets inside you.”

Pattinson felt “strange” for some time after filming The Batman because he was constantly “in the dark”, both in terms of mood and lighting.

He said: “Both mood-wise and light-wise, I can’t see anything for like months. It does affect you like you feel strange afterwards.”

And The Odyssey actor has teased the upcoming sequel is a “real left turn” from the previous movie.

He told Collider: “It’s so ambitious. I mean, I sort of said the other day on something that the first one was a different take on a Batman movie, and this one is another.

“It’s a real left turn from the first one, but somehow it keeps elements of the kind of feel of it.

“But it just feels really ambitious, and I’m excited to see how it turns out.”
