Davina McCall’s husband Michael Douglas plans facelift after health battles leave him feeling ‘10 years older’

The celebrity hairdresser has opened up about the physical toll of supporting his wife through brain tumour surgery, breast cancer and a cardiovascular disease diagnosis, revealing plans for cosmetic surgery and a complete image overhaul.

Davina McCall’s husband Michael Douglas has revealed he is planning to undergo a facelift after admitting the strain of his wife’s serious health battles has left him feeling as though he has aged a decade.

The celebrity hairdresser, 53, who married former Big Brother presenter Davina, 59, in December 2025, opened up about the impact of her brain tumour surgery, breast cancer diagnosis and his demanding business commitments during an appearance on fashion designer Amanda Wakeley’s Style DNA podcast on Wednesday (21.10.26.)

Michael said he had noticed significant changes in his appearance over the past three years and was considering cosmetic surgery once the couple began slowing down their working lives.

He added: “In the last three years, I have aged about 10 years, and I can really see it.”

Michael also said: “[Davina] had a brain tumour, she had breast cancer, I’ve been fully running a business for the last four years, in an intense way. And I can see that it’s really taking its toll in my face. It’s started to really deteriorate.”

The hairdresser, who has worked with numerous celebrities throughout his career, explained that he was considering a lower facelift and cosmetic treatment around his eyes.

Michael said: “Once the business journey’s over, and me and Davina start to wind down a bit, I will get a little lower facelift.”

Pulling at the skin around his eyelids, he joked: “This is almost like a labia, here. Look at that. So, yeah, we’ll probably do a little cut round [the eyelids], and then start to look after my skin a little bit.”

His comments follow a difficult period for Davina, who underwent surgery in November 2024 after doctors discovered a rare benign brain tumour known as a colloid cyst.

The growth was identified during a health examination connected to her work raising awareness of menopause.

In April 2025, Davina revealed follow-up scans had confirmed the tumour had been completely removed.

However, she faced another health scare later that year when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The television presenter underwent a lumpectomy in October 2025 and subsequently received five days of radiotherapy as a precaution.

Davina explained the cancer had been detected early and had not spread to her lymph nodes.

When announcing her diagnosis the following month, she thanked her family and medical team for their support.

She added: “And an extra special thanks to Michael. It’s been a lot.”

Davina, who became a household name presenting Channel 4’s Big Brother, recently revealed she has also been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease.

Speaking on her Begin Again podcast in an episode released to coincide with World Menopause Day, Davina said: “I wanted to let you know, I also have cardiovascular disease, and this is a very important conversation to have.”

She added: “Once you’ve been ill, you think ‘Oh, I thought I was invincible’.”

The presenter, who also hosts ITV’s Long Lost Family and appears as a judge on The Masked Singer, has become a prominent campaigner for menopause awareness through her documentaries and podcast.

Michael, meanwhile, has also devoted considerable time to supporting other people through his and Davina’s professional work and health campaigns.
