Molly Ringwald included a rare childhood photo of Mathilda as part of the actress’ birthday tribute to her eldest child on Thursday (22.10.26).
Molly Ringwald treated fans to a rare childhood photo of her daughter to celebrate her turning 23.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday (22.10.26), the 58-year-old actress penned a sweet birthday tribute for Mathilda, whom she has with her 51-year-old husband, author Panio Gianopoulos.
The first shot showed the couple’s eldest child as a youngster, looking cute and calm while dressed in an all-white winter outfit – a fluffy fur hat and a matching coat that featured a soft collar and decorative buttons.
It was followed by a shot of the young woman Mathilda has become, holding a drink in a venue while dressed in a black halter-style top that featured a bold, multicoloured graphic on the front and lace detailing around the neckline.
Molly captioned the post: “Happy birthday my beautiful firstborn. I love you so much!! (sic)”
Fans flocked to the upload’s comments section to react to the pictures and to send their best wishes to Mathilda.
One penned: “Great pics. Happy birthday!”
A second supporter typed: “She’s grown into such a beautiful human. Miss all y’all.”
And a third follower wrote: “Adorable then and now! Happy Birthday.”
As well as Mathilda, The Breakfast Club star has 17-year-old fraternal twins Adele and Roman with Panio.
In August, Molly revealed the one piece of dating advice she has given her firstborn.
She told E! News: “The dating advice I always give her is just to be herself, and also to respect yourself and not to do anything she doesn’t want to do.”
Laughing, Mathilda added: “Oh, she’s like, ‘No second chances, don’t put up with all that.’
Hugging her mom, she continued: “I feel like you’re very strict.”
In April 2024, Molly revealed Mathilda was conceived in a dressing room at the New York nightclub-turned-theatre Studio 54, towards the end of her run in the Broadway show Cabaret.
She told The Times: “I believe that Mathilda was conceived in the dressing room at Studio 54 right at the end of my run playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret in 2003.
“It’s so Mathilda to be conceived in such an iconic place. I always knew I wanted to have children, but it took me a while – I was 36 when she was born.
“At that age, the biological clock is a real thing, and it had kind of become deafening. All I could think about was: must have kids.”
