Dax Shepard recalls having ‘a crush’ on Kate Hudson

Dax Shepard has opened up about his romance with Kate Hudson.

Dax Shepard had “a crush” on Kate Hudson during her younger years.

The 51-year-old actor has admitted to being wowed by Kate’s good looks before they dated in 2007.

Recalling their first encounter, Dax – who is now married to Hollywood star Kristen Bell – said on his Armchair Expert podcast: “I gave her 111 percent of any charm I have.

“I just thought she was so f****** beautiful, and I love [her movie] Almost Famous, and, oh my God, I can’t believe she’s here.

“I remember leaving [the event] going like, ‘Well, this is as good a job as one can do.’ She’s married, who cares, but that was a great first showing. I just had a crush on her.”

Dax and Kate, 47, briefly dated in 2007, following her split from musician Chris Robinson.

Dax recalled: “From that night on, we were just together every single day. [We were] making out, f****** all day long.”

Meanwhile, Kristen previously admitted that a happy marriage requires consistent “compromise”.

The 46-year-old actress has been married to Dax since 2013, and she opened up about her own approach to relationships, likening herself to a “puzzle piece that fits with someone else”.

The Hollywood star – who has daughters Lincoln, 13, and Delta, 11, with Dax – told Andy Cohen Live: “I don’t like the idea that you’re looking for your perfect puzzle piece because you also have to become a puzzle piece that fits with someone else.

“So if you find two people that are like, ‘Yeah, we’re going to make this work and that means we’re going to compromise constantly and those compromises should work well for both of us.’ And sometimes it’s going to ebb and sometimes it’s going to flow, but we’re not going to have checks and balances, because we’re going to realise it’s not me against you, it’s us against the world.'”

Kristen also loves that Dax has “a commitment to growth”.

She said: “We understand each other’s highs and lows and excitements and complaints. We’re both creative, so we can get deep into some random conversation and just feel like we’re creating something together.

“I am glad I chose my husband because he has a commitment to growth at all times.”
