Michael Douglas has revealed his rarely seen pal Jack Nicholson is “fine” and spends his days walking around in his slippers” at home since retiring from Hollywood.
Jack Nicholson is “fine” and spends his days walking around in his slippers” at home since retiring from Hollywood, according to Michael Douglas.
The Wall Street star , 82, has given an update on his rarely-seem friend, who stepped away from the movie business after the release of his final film, 2010 rom-com How Do You Know, and revealed he’s enjoying his retirement.
Douglas made the comments during an event in Swansea, Wales to promote his new memoir One Helluva Ride. According to The Independent newspaper, Douglas was asked about his 89-year-old pal and he said: “I would have liked to have acted with Jack. He’s not working any more. He’s well. He has disappeared. I know that.”
He added: “I still see him, but he is fine. He is up there by his house and walking around in his slippers. It happens. He deserves it. I understand. He is a few years older than me, but I understand.”
Douglas has been busy promoting his new book which features bombshell revelations about his personal life including the confirmation of his romance with Kathleen Turner, his secret affair with Jeanne Tripplehorn and the admission he was dating five other women at the time his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones wanted to make their relationship serious.
He revealed he made five break-up phone calls in one day after Catherine told him she would only date him if he stopped seeing other women.
The actor was separated from his first wife, Diandra Douglas, 70, and dating five women when he began pursuing Catherine after being captivated by her performance in The Mask of Zorro. Catherine, however, quickly made clear she would not become the sixth woman in his romantic life.
Michael wrote: “She told me she understood that I was a single guy who’d come out of a long marriage, but she would only be monogamous.
“‘I’m not interested in dating you if you’re dating other people. You can either continue with them or end it and be with me.’”
Michael said his response required some immediate administration.
He wrote: “I told her wait here I have to make five quick calls. ‘Five? You have to make five calls?’ … Just after my marriage, I had been seeing five other women. They knew I was recently separated and in the process of getting a divorce.
“I made sure they all lived in different cities, which felt like a respectful way to be non-monogamous … None of them asked for a commitment or even asked what else I was up to. I am sure they were seeing other people, too.”
However, Catherine’s intervention prompted him to end all five relationships. Michael wrote: “That day, I called each one to say I met somebody and would no longer be able to continue seeing them. They all took it well.”
