Russell Brand has been on trial for seven charges involving six women, and he has been found guilty on four counts.
Russell Brand has been found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
The 51-year-old comedian has been on trial following allegations involving six women, with the prosecutor describing him as a “sexual predator” whose “strong desire for some form of sexual contact was indiscriminate and voracious”.
On Thursday (05.11.26), the jury delivered their verdict at Southwark Crown Court, nine hours and 13 minutes after they began deliberations.
The judge Mr Justice Bennethan told Brand to “sit down” after the verdict was revealed.
He added: “Given the verdict on count six at least, obviously a custodial sentence of some length will result.”
A sentencing hearing will follow on Monday (09.11.26).
The judge told Brand: “You’ve been convicted of a number of offences including rape. The consequence of that is inevitably a significant custodial term.
“My current view is that I therefore have to remand you into custody.”
Brand had been accused of seven offences over 10 years from 1999 to 2009, and had denied all allegations.
He was found guilty of a count of sexual assault, relating to a party in a Soho bar in 2004, where he was accused of grabbing a woman’s breasts.
Brand was also found guilty of sexually assaulting a complainant at Choice FM in the summer of 2004 or 2005.
The guilty count of rape related to Brand anally raping the complainant at his Hampstead home between the winter and spring of 2009, having previously met her at his Hammersmith Apollo gig.
Brand has also been found guilty of sexually assaulting a complainant while she was working on a Channel 4 project, when he was accused of putting his head in her lap with his mouth and nose in her “vaginal area”.
The Metropolitan Police has also revealed Brand is under further investigation for other rape allegations made by two women.
A spokesperson told Sky News: “The Met’s investigation into allegations of rape made by two women remains ongoing.
“The suspect has previously been interviewed under caution in connection with the allegations.
“Files have been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service in relation to both complainants.
“Detectives remain in close contact with prosecutors as enquiries continue and further investigative work is carried out.”
