Jodie Sweetin learned “humility” while working in a “normal job”.

The Full House star was in her teens when her sitcom TGIF came to an end and, in the subsequent years, she struggled to find regular acting jobs amid battles with drug and alcohol addiction. After getting sober in 2011, Jodie – who has Zoie, 18, with second husband Cody Herpin and Beatrix, 16, with third husband Morty Coyle – took a job as a logistics coordinator at a Los Angeles treatment centre and insisted she “didn’t care” how her circumstances had changed.

She said on the We’re Still Here, Babe podcast: “I didn’t have ego about it. I didn’t care that I was quote unquote working a normal job. I think other people again were like, ‘What are you doing here?’ And I was like, ‘Paying my bills. Kids don’t pay for themselves.’

“And not like I was ever a materialistic person but you learn humility when you are at Target and you’ve got to turn around and, you know, put some s— back, ‘cause you don’t have the money on your debit card.”

Jodie – who married fourth husband Mescal Wasilewski in 2022 – told how she “learned to be really happy” with her life at the time.

She added: “I loved my life.

“I was like, I would be fine doing this if this is what I’m going to do, cool. And I just threw myself into being as fully present as I could be and that old, you know, ‘bloom where you’re planted’ kind of vibe. Like, if this is what it is, then I’m going to make it good, and I’m going to have fun, and I’m going to enjoy it.”

The actress noted her other option was to “be miserable” and constantly fixate on the idea she was supposed to be doing something else.

And Jodie noted having a lot of money and having none both cause problems in their own ways.

She said: “I have had and I have definitely not had and I’ve learned to exist in both.”

The Full House revival series Fuller House – which launched on Netflix in 2016 – came at a good time for Jodie because, when the project was first mooted, she had been “straddling that line”.

She admitted: “I had to borrow money the first week I was working on Fuller House, and I skidded into my first paycheque with like $190 in my bank account.”
