Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson says starring in Christmas movie ‘Red One’ ticked off a wish from his filmmaking bucket list.
Dwayne Johnson has ticked off a bucket list wish by making his first Christmas movie ‘Red One’.
The 52-year-old Hollywood action man stars alongside Chris Evans, Lucy Liu and J. K. Simmons as Santa Claus, who is kidnapped before Christmas and has to be rescued by his security team.
Since swapping wrestling for acting, Dwayne – known as The Rock during his WWE days – has always wanted to appear in a festive film and says ‘Red One’ is a dream come true.
Appearing on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, Dwayne said: “It’s my first Christmas movie and as an actor I feel it’s a bucket list thing now checked off.
Dwayne appeared on the talk show with his co-star Lucy, 55, and for the fight scenes she admits her muscle memory from prior action roles in ‘Kill Bill’ and ‘Charlie’s Angels’ kicked in.
She said: “For the big fight scene my muscle memory from previous roles in ‘Kill Bill’ and ‘Charlie’s Angels’ just seemed to kick in and it all sort of happened.”
To prepare for the part, Lucy told host Graham that she did not attempt to hit the gym with Dwayne who is famous for his epic and gruelling training regime.
When asked if she worked out with Dwayne for the role, Lucy said: “No not at all. If anything, he could deadlift me!”
To which Dwayne added: “She didn’t have to work out because she is a born bad-a**.”
‘The Graham Norton Show’ can be seen on BBC One at 10.40pm on Friday (08.11.24). It is also available on BBC iPlayer.
