After fans criticised developer Arrowhead for announcing ‘Killzone 2’-themed items coming to ‘Helldivers 2’ would cost 1,975 Super Credits – nearly double that of the normal Warbond price of 1,000 Super Credits – the studio has now said all of the content will be given to all players for free.
‘Helldivers 2’ players are due to receive all of the ‘Killzone 2’ content for free.
The items – which would have included weapons, armour and other cosmetics from the 2009 Guerrilla Games shooter – were initially announced with the pricetag of 1,975 Super Credits, nearly double that of the normal Warbond price of 1,000 Super Credits, but after fans criticised developer Arrowhead for the inflated cost, the studio will now be giving all players the content at no additional cost.
In a joint statement from Arrowhead and Guerrilla Games, the former company said: “As this was our first crossover offering, we’ve been listening to the response, and the feedback we’ve received from our community surveys is that crossover content is really high up on your wishlists.
“At the same time, some of you are not happy with the prices of the items and we will revisit this.
“Because of all this, in partnership with our friends at Guerrilla (and as we’re in the season of holiday cheer), we’ve decided to offer a gift to all players.
“Firstly, we are gifting to everyone the planned second wave of the ‘Helldivers x Killzone’ collaboration items today, free of charge. The distribution of those items will begin shortly, in two waves.”
The second wave will include a PLAS-39 Accelator Rifle, a StA-11 SMG, the AC-2 Obedient armour set, a Defender of our Dream cape, and a Defender of our Dream player banner.
The studio added it would also increase the rotation of the items from the normal five days to 10.
The statement concluded: “We’re also investigating solutions for how we can bring these items back permanently in the future.”
