COD: Black Ops 6 Zombies actors have been recast, Activision seemingly confirms

After rumours about the some of the ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ voice actors being recast began to circulate, Activision has seemingly confirmed that some of the cast have indeed been replaced.

Activision has seemingly confirmed some of the actors in ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’ have been replaced.

After rumours began to spread earlier this month that voice actors Zeke Alton and Julie Nathanson – who played William Peck and Samantha Maxis in the game’s ‘Zombies’ mode – had quit the title due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike concerning AI protections in the industry, the studio has suggested these characters have indeed been replaced.

In a statement to Game Developer, Activision said: “We respect the personal choice of these performers.

“Out of respect for all parties, we won’t add new commentary about the ongoing negotiations with SAG-AFTRA. We look forward to a mutually beneficial outcome as soon as possible.”

The SAG-AFTRA strike for game voice actors has been going on since July over the use of AI in projects, and there is currently no deal between the union and studios.

Alton admitted he thought he had been replaced in ‘Zombies’, and said: “To the best of my knowledge, that performance is not [mine]”.

He continued: “It’s their character and they can do with it what they please. My only concern is for my brand as a performer.”

The actor added he had “no issue with Activision’s actions with a character and IP that they own”, and said he hoped to work with the studio again once SAG-AFTRA reaches a deal with the major gaming companies.

He concluded: “I absolutely adore the creative team and the opportunity I’ve had to collaborate with them in the past. I sincerely hope to collaborate in the future once all performers are protected against generative AI abuse.”
