Monica Barbaro has been appointed as a Dior ambassador and will represent Maria Grazia Chirui’s women’s fashion collections.
Monica Barbaro is “so honoured” to have been appointed as a Dior ambassador.
The 34-year-old actress will represent creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri’s women’s fashion collections and is “so honoured” to be working with the fashion house.
She is quoted by WWD as saying: “Since I was a kid, I was inspired by fashion and its evolution as an art form. Dior has held an iconic place in my imagination. I am so honoured to be joining a house that is the gold standard in elegance, craftsmanship and celebration of the feminine.”
The ‘A Complete Unknown’ star was chosen as she embodies “elegance and audacity of Dior style, a continually reinvented femininity” and the partnership with the actress “celebrates the special ties that unite Dior and culture in all forms more than ever.”
Monica worked with the French fashion house for the press tour for ‘A Complete Unknown’ – in which she plays Joan Baez opposite Timothee Chalamet as Bob Dylan – and wore a Dior Cruise 2021 ivory lace dress for the New York premiere.
And at the Golden Globe awards last month, the ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ star wore a strapless Dior gown with a draped bodice and flowing pleated skirt to the Golden Globe Awards.
The dress, which featured intricate embroidery and beaded embellishments through an overlayer of tulle, took a reported 1,100 hours to create.
Monica previously told Vogue of the gown: “Maria Grazia Chiuri drew this beautiful sketch for me as soon as ‘A Complete Unknown’ received its nomination.
“My stylist, Jeanann Williams, and I immediately fell in love…
“Dior has pulled out all the stops to design and fit this gorgeous gown for me and I feel so honoured. The atelier flew in from Paris to tailor the dress to fit my body perfectly. It is elegant and simultaneously both classic and modern.”
Monica admitted she doesn’t follow trends and prefers to wear “timeless staples”.
She said: “In my daily wear I don’t tend to trend hop. I love timeless staples with more simple, subtle nods to what’s currently in fashion.”
