Moby ‘ignores’ AI’s impact on music business

A number of big-name stars – including Ed Sheeran and Sir Paul McCartney – have recently voiced their concerns about the potential impact of AI on the music business, but Moby is remaining relaxed about the situation.

The dance music star told Sky News: “I completely appreciate and respect the concerns that other people have.

“I think they’re incredibly valid … but for me personally, I don’t know. Maybe it’s naive and stupid of me, but I kind of just ignore it.

“I put this music out there and you sort of hope for the best, which probably is completely dim-witted of me.

“Part of remix culture is seeing how people reinterpret your work; sometimes it’s mediocre, sometimes it is bad, but sometimes it is so inspired, and I can actually learn a lot from other creative processes.”

By contrast, Kings of Leon star Caleb Followill previously admitted that he feels “scared” of AI technology.

The 43-year-old star confessed to feeling a “little nervous” about AI’s ever-increasing influence on the music industry – although Caleb joked that he’s “kind of an old man”.

Speaking to Sky News in 2024, the musician said: “I am scared of it though, I think, maybe, a little bit.

“I’ve seen some stuff that makes me a little nervous.”
