John Krasinski is to write and direct A Quiet Place Part III as he makes a return to the post-apocalyptic horror franchise.
John Krasinski will write and direct A Quiet Place Part III.
The 45-year-old actor and filmmaker will return to the horror franchise for a new movie that has been scheduled for a July 2027 release by Paramount.
Krasinski – who announced news of the project on social media – helmed the original A Quiet Place movie in 2018 and was also behind the camera on the 2020 sequel, although last year’s spin-off A Quiet Place: Day One was directed by Michael Sarnoski.
No casting announcements have been made for the new flick, but Krasinski’s wife Emily Blunt led the first two instalments, with the children played by Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe.
Krasinski starred in the first movie but his alter ego Lee Abbott was killed off during the picture.
The post-apocalyptic films have grossed over $900 million globally and are set in a world in which alien monsters have landed on Earth.
Although the aliens are blind, they are sensitive to sound and will kill anything that makes a noise – meaning that humans must stay quiet or face death.
Krasinski announced back in 2022 that A Quiet Place Part III was in development and suggested that the studio was targeting a 2025 release.
The Office star previously joked that he had put his marriage “on the line” by asking Emily to do a dangerous stunt in A Quiet Place Part II.
He told ReelBlend: “Emily’s [stunt] is so real. I think I put my marriage on the line when I put her in the car. That’s true.
“Like when I was explaining to her on set all the things that were going to happen and I said, ‘You’re going to hit this stunt man, that car is going to come three feet from you and then this bus is actually going to clock at 40 miles an hour,’ her face fell and she went, ‘But not really.’ And I went, ‘No, no, the bus is coming at you at 40 miles.’ That’s a real bus, and that bus hits that car and all that is totally real.”
Krasinski has previously hailed his wife as “the most tremendous actress of our time” as he relished getting to make the movies with her.
The Jack Ryan star – who married Emily in 2010 – said: “She is without a doubt the most tremendous actress of our time, in my opinion … She is the most incredible partner in writing and directing and set designs. She just has such good ideas.
“So, I actually felt like I had my partner in all things on set, not just the best actress in the world … Anything I can think of, she makes 10 times better so that’s a pretty good weapon to have on set.”
