Helldivers 2 dev Arrowhead has ‘no plans’ for a sequel, CEO insists

Arrowhead Game Studios has confirmed it has “no plans” for Helldivers 3, with CEO Shams Jorjani stating the team will continue updating Helldivers 2 “for as long as it can go”.

Arrowhead Game Studios have “no plans” to make a Helldivers 3.

The developer has firmly ruled out making a sequel to Helldivers 2, insisting that its focus remains squarely on expanding and supporting its 2024 third-person shooter for as long as possible.

In a post on the game’s Discover server, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani wrote: “We have no plans for HD3. Just HD2 for as long as it can go. Think RuneScape.”

Jorjani had recently sparked speculation about a Helldivers 3 after he said that a social hub space was “on the feature list for the next one”, though later clarified he was referring to Arrowhead’s next title – not Helldivers 3.

The studio boss previously said Arrowhead wanted Helldivers 2 to become a “forever game”.

He said: “Myself and the directors agree we would love this to be a forever game.

“Assuming we get a grip on the performance and dev practices we can keep expanding it for a long time. PlayStation is super supportive.”

In April, Helldivers 2 production director Alex Bolle said Arrowhead wants the game “to be around for years and years and years to come”.

He told IGN: “It’s almost like, how do we stay true to the Helldivers 2 fantasy, challenging enough that we keep making amazing new features and new systems and all that while we stay true to who we are?

“And I think it’s something that is so motivating for the years to come.
