Princess Diana’s twin nieces launch handbags with Apsinal of London

Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza Spencer have each launched their own signature handbag with the iconic brand.

Princess Diana’s nieces have designed their own handbags for Aspinal of London.

Twins Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza Spencer, who are ambassadors for the iconic accessory brand popular with other members of the British Royal Family, have continued their partnership and unveiled the Amelia Bag and Eliza Clutch.

Amelia told InStyle magazine: “I think the prospect of designing has always been aspirational.

“We’ve always admired the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into creating accessories.”

Her identical twin Eliza admitted they have “often imagined and hope that this could be an opportunity”, and it’s one they’re grateful for.

She added: “But obviously, Aspinal giving us this platform and entrusting us with this opportunity to transform that dream that we’ve always had has been quite an exhilarating and humbling experience.

“And this collaboration has really allowed us not only to explore our creative journey behind the design, but also express our own vision in a more tangible and enduring way.”

The Amelia Bag – which the royal described as “more about embracing the joy and sparkle and individuality” – is inspired by a drawsting pouch, and comes with four different colours, with a palette of steel and black.

She explained: “I feel that they really evoke a richness, sophistication, and a celebratory mood. It’s perfect for the festive time of the year.

“It’s more playful, soft. I think it’s a bit more versatile for day and night, but it’s obviously a bag that I love.”

For Eliza, her clutch is available in seven different colours, and is intended more for eveningwear.

She said: “For me, the inspiration behind the Eliza Clutch was more rooted in the idea of timeless evening glamour — something more elegant and architectural and enduring.

“I wanted to create a piece that felt more classic, but also striking and the kind of accessory that elevates an outfit and becomes a conversation piece on its own, if you know what I mean.”
