Battlefield 6: DICE reveals big gameplay changes coming to its shooter

DICE has detailed major gameplay changes coming to Battlefield 6 ahead of Season 1, including weapon accuracy refinements, visibility improvements, and Battle Royale balance updates based on community feedback.

DICE has revealed a sweeping set of gameplay improvements and balance changes coming to Battlefield 6.

In a new community update, the developer confirmed its main priorities are improving combat consistency, weapon accuracy, visibility, progression, and performance for its shooter.

One major change will overhaul weapon dispersion, making bullets behave more predictably and ensuring each gun’s accuracy reflects its intended range.

DICE wrote on X: “We’ll continue refining how weapon accuracy behaves in battle to make your shots feel more consistent and rewarding.”

Movement and aiming will also feel smoother, with refinements to reticle stability and post-sprint accuracy.

Meanwhile, visibility has been reworked to address extreme brightness and dark interior contrasts, while challenge requirements are being drastically reduced to make progression “faster and more straightforward”.

The studio also shared updates on the game’s Battle Royale mode, based on community testing through Battlefield Labs.

Players will now start with one armour plate but can upgrade to two, while time-to-kill at close range has been increased to reward precise positioning and counterplay.

Vehicle balance has also been tweaked to ensure helicopters and tanks remain powerful but are not dominant in endgame scenarios.

DICE said it has paused Battlefield Labs temporarily to focus on Season 1’s rollout – which starts on October 28 – and promised more testing sessions in the near future.

The developer added: “All of your clips, bug reports, and discussion on community channels are shaping what we do next.”
