Pokemon Legends: Z-A has sold over 5.8 million copies in its first week.

The adventure-RPG – which was developed by Game Freak – released on October 16, 2025, and publisher Nintendo has announced Pokemon Legends: Z-A has already sold nearly six million copies, making it one of the highest-selling Pokemon games in its first week.

Nintendo added that approximately half of the total sales were on the Nintendo Switch 2, with the figure accounting for both digital and physical units.

Even so, it should be noted Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and Pokemon Sword/Shield sold more copies in their first weeks than Z-A.

Still, first week sales for Z-A has surpassed the likes of Pokemon X/Y and Pokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee.

In Pokemon Legends: Z‑A, players return to the reimagined Kalos region’s Lumiose City where they must rise through the ranks from Z to A by engaging in real-time battles and sudden Mega Evolutions.

With wild Pokemon transforming at night and advanced multiplayer arenas added, the game turns the familiar world of trainers into something fast-moving and unpredictable.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A was included in a Nintendo Switch 2 hardware bundle, which boasted “improved graphics and frame-rate”.
