A new leak claims that Halo 2 and Halo 3 are getting full campaign-only remakes following the launch of Halo: Campaign Evolved, with the next multiplayer entry reportedly set to arrive in Halo 7.
Halo 2 and 3 are reportedly going to be remade.
According to a post from reliable leaker Halo Leaks, both titles are “being remade” with modernised features — including the addition of sprinting — but will reportedly not include multiplayer.
The claim suggests that Halo Studios will focus exclusively on campaign content for the remakes, while the next multiplayer-focused entry, Halo 7, is still in early development.
The leaker wrote on X: “Halo 2 and 3 are being remade, yes they will have sprint. No multiplayer, only campaign. Full remakes. Multiplayer is going to be Halo 7.”
If true, the decision marks a surprising shift for the franchise, as Halo 3 in particular remains widely regarded as one of the most iconic multiplayer shooters ever made.
However, insiders have suggested the studio plans to gauge the success of Halo: Campaign Evolved when it launches next year before fully committing to remaking Halo 2 and 3.
Halo: Campaign Evolved was officially unveiled last week, confirming that the series’ 25th-anniversary remake of Combat Evolved will also launch on PlayStation 5 – a first for the franchise.
While Microsoft and Halo Studios have yet to confirm the reports, the possibility of Halo 2 and 3 being rebuilt for current-gen platforms has already sparked major excitement – and some skepticism – among longtime fans.
