With updates on the project remaining few and far between, Bastila voice actress Jennifer Hale has admitted she doesn’t know what’s happening with the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake.

The reimagining of BioWare’s legendary 2003 RPG has been in the works since 2021, and with updates on the project remaining slow, Hale – who voiced Bastila in the original game – has admitted she isn’t clued in to the status of the KOTOR Remake.
During an interview with BuzzFeed, she said: “There’s a very steady flow of people who really love that universe.
“I have people constantly asking about a reboot or a sequel. My answer is, ‘That’s above my pay grade, but I certainly am excited for the possibility!’
“The greatest thing, and it’s such an honor, is the way that their connection to these characters has empowered them as people. It’s an incredible privilege to be part of something like that.”
The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake was first announced back in September 2021, with Aspyr Media confirmed to be developing the title alongside publisher Sony.
However, Aspyr was reportedly thrown off the project in August 2022 – which was said to be because Sony was not satisfied with their work – and The Embracer Group’s Saber Interactive were then handed the game.
Then, doubt over the Remake began to set in when Saber parted from Embracer in March 2024, and whether the studio would take the game with it, or if it would instead stay with the publisher.
Eventually, it was confirmed Saber had taken the KOTOR Remake with it, and shortly after, insisted the game was “alive and well”.
The most recent update on the KOTOR Remake came in March 2025, when Saber CCO Tim Willits said “everything that we have talked about is still in development”.
