Epic Games has said The Simpsons crossover sparked Fortnite’s biggest player surge in a year, drawing 2.6 million users and topping Disney+ charts ahead of Chapter Seven’s debut.
Epic Games has said its latest Fortnite collaboration with The Simpsons has driven the biggest surge in new and returning players since last holiday season.
According to public data from Fortnite.gg, player numbers peaked at 2.6 million concurrent users over the weekend.
Millions tuned in for a live in-game event featuring The Simpsons’ iconic aliens Kang and Kodos, followed by the launch of Springfield Island – a fully playable map packed with Easter eggs from the long-running animated series.
Epic wrote on social media: “In 48 hours, we welcomed the biggest number of new and returning Fortnite players since last holiday season.”
The tie-in short Fortnite | The Simpsons even climbed to the number one spot on Disney+ in the U.S., boosting the crossover’s visibility beyond gaming audiences.
The update comes at a crucial time for the battle royale, which has faced a dip in engagement amid rising competition from Roblox and other live-service games.
September’s “alien bug” season saw average daily players fall to around 500,000, but The Simpsons event appears to have reignited interest.
While the 2.6 million-player spike trails earlier Fortnite peaks – such as 5.7 million during June’s Star Wars finale – analysts see the crossover as proof that the game’s franchise-driven strategy still works.
The season concludes November 29, when a live finale is expected to usher in Fortnite: Chapter Seven – rumored to feature Kill Bill and the return of The Seven faction.
