OnePlus has delayed the US launch of its new OnePlus 15 due to FCC certification backlogs from the government shutdown.
OnePlus has delayed the U.S. launch of its new flagship OnePlus 15, citing regulatory backlogs caused by the recently concluded federal government shutdown.
In a statement, the company said FCC certifications had been held up during the shutdown, forcing OnePlus to postpone U.S. sales of its new flagship Android phone until approvals are complete.
The company said in a statement: “As a result of the government shutdown, device certifications have been delayed.
“Subsequently, U.S. sales for the OnePlus 15 will be postponed until they have been secured.
“We are hopeful that approvals can be generated quickly.”
However, though no new release window has been confirmed.
The OnePlus 15 is still launching on schedule in other regions, including Canada, where preorders have already opened.
In the U.S., the phone is expected to start at $899, with a higher-end $999 model offering 512GB of storage and 16GB of RAM.
OnePlus also cautioned that U.S. pricing could shift due to “market conditions”.
The handset is the first U.S.-bound phone powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, promising big gains in speed, AI processing and gaming performance.
Early benchmarks show the chip handling intensive workloads such as 4K video editing and on-device AI tasks with ease, but may heat up considerably.
Aimed at mobile gamers, the OnePlus 15 features a 6.78-inch 165Hz display, one of the fastest refresh rates on any phone, with native support for high-frame-rate titles like Call of Duty Mobile and Brawl Stars.
A newly redesigned vapour chamber cooling system helps sustain performance during long play sessions.
One of the phone’s standout features is its massive 7,300mAh battery, offering up to two days of use per charge.
It supports 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, though only with OnePlus-branded accessories.
Other changes include a new customizable Plus Key replacing the long-running alert slider, and a
switch from Hasselblad-tuned cameras to OnePlus’ own imaging system, the DetailMax Engine.
The triple-50MP rear camera setup remains powerful, though early tests show mixed results in low light.
