CD Projekt Red has said The Witcher 4 will not receive a new trailer at this year’s Game Awards despite its Most Anticipated Game nomination.
CD Projekt Red has confirmed that The Witcher 4 will not receive a new trailer at this year’s Game Awards, despite earning a nomination in the show’s Most Anticipated Game category.
In a post on X, the studio’s co-CEO Michał Nowakowski celebrated the recognition of its upcoming RPG, but shut down hopes of a new trailer or teaser dropping at the event on December 11.
He wrote: “I’m very happy to see The Witcher 4 nominated in the Most Anticipated Game category at The Game Awards. Thanks to everyone who has already voted – your support means a lot to us.
“We won’t be bringing any new content to TGA this year, but we’re, as always, excited to watch the show and celebrate this amazing industry’s great night alongside all of you.”
The Witcher 4 – known internally as Project Polaris – last surfaced in June during a behind-closed-doors demo showcasing early technology rather than gameplay.
CD later clarified that the slice was a technical representation of the game’s planned visual and systemic ambitions, not something players should expect to see in the final release.
Still, it highlighted the game’s northern setting and its shift to Unreal Engine 5, marking the first mainline Witcher entry to abandon CDPR’s in-house REDengine.
The team has continued hiring aggressively throughout 2025 as the project scales up, with more than half of the studio reportedly assigned to the new Witcher saga.
Development on the title is expected to continue for several more years.
Even without Geralt’s successor on the stage, The Game Awards looks stacked, as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 leads the show with a record-breaking 12 nominations, while other high-profile projects are set to appear.
