John Wick and Saw AAA games are in development, Lionsgate confirms

Lionsgate has confirmed that big-budget AAA video games based on its John Wick and Saw franchises are in development, as the studio looks to expand its most recognisable IP into the mainstream gaming market.

Lionsgate has confirmed that AAA games based on John Wick and Saw are officially in the works.

The confirmation came during a recent earnings call, where Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chairman Adam Fogelson said the company has multiple “AAA game opportunities” tied to John Wick and Saw, with formal announcements expected “soon”.

Fogelson added that progress on the projects “remains on schedule,” citing “increased interest and opportunities” around adapting the studio’s intellectual property for games.

For John Wick fans, the news revives long-standing hopes for a major interactive adaptation that matches the scale and style of the films.

The franchise’s precise gunplay, choreographed combat and assassin underworld have long been viewed as a natural fit for a high-end action game.

Previous efforts have been limited in scope, most notably 2019’s John Wick Hex, a tactical spin-off that explored the universe rather than delivering a full AAA experience.

Details on the new John Wick project remain scarce, including whether it will retell part of the films, feature Keanu Reeves’ likeness, or follow an original story set within the same world.

Industry observers suggest an original narrative may offer developers greater creative freedom while avoiding conflicts with the film canon.

The announcement of a new Saw game is also notable, as it would be the franchise’s first major gaming entry since 2010’s Saw II: Flesh and Blood.

Known for its psychological horror and elaborate traps, Saw presents a very different design challenge, potentially leaning toward narrative-driven survival horror rather than action.

Together, the projects signal Lionsgate’s intent to treat games as a core extension of its franchises, rather than a side experiment, as competition for established IP intensifies across film, television and interactive entertainment.
