GTA VI ‘could be delayed for the third time as Rockstar devs still working on missions’

With the game aiming to launch in less than 11 months’ time, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has claimed Grand Theft Auto VI could be delayed for the third time, as developer Rockstar Games is still reportedly working on levels and missions for the title.

Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) could reportedly be delayed for the third time.

Developer Rockstar Games has already pushed its highly-anticipated action/sandbox title back twice – once from late 2025 to May 2026, and then again to November 2026 – and now Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has claimed GTA VI may be delayed to 2027 as staff are still working on missions.

During an appearance on the Ringer-Verse’s Button Mash podcast, the reporter said: “This is a big and complicated game.

“This time around, this is a big and complicated game, and the last I heard, it was still not content complete.

“That is to say that people were still finishing things up, still finalizing levels and missions, and seeing what’s going to make it into the game.”

As a result of the title’s supposed development situation, Schreier said he would not be “super shocked” if GTA VI was pushed back again.

Following the second delay last November, Strauss Zelnick – the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive – said he was “highly confident” in GTA VI’s new launch date of November 19, 2026.

When IGN asked the studio boss if he was sure GTA VI would meet its new November 2026 release, he said: “I’m highly confident.

“And at the same time, there have been limited circumstances where more time was required to polish a title and make sure that it was spectacular and that time has been well-spent, when our competitors go to market before something was ready, bad things happen.

“That said, I’m highly confident on the new date.”
