Massive Entertainment has confirmed Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 is deep in development and aiming to recapture the scale and impact of the original game.
Tom Clancy’s The Division 3, is “shaping up to be a monster”, franchise boss Julian Gerighty has teased.
Speaking during the New Game+ Showcase 2026, Gerighty – the executive producer of the Division franchise at Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment – confirmed that development is on the upcoming tactical shooter progressing steadily behind closed doors.
He said: “So, The Division 3 is in production, right? This is not a secret. It’s been announced. It’s shaping up to be a monster.
“I can’t really say anything more than that. But this is, within these walls in Massive, we are working extremely hard on something that I think will be as big an impact as Division 1 was.”
When Tom Clancy’s The Division was unveiled at E3 2013, its slick reveal trailer became one of the most talked-about moments of the show.
Despite delays, the game launched in 2016 to record-breaking sales for Ubisoft, establishing the publisher as a major force in live-service shooters.
Its sequel, The Division 2, arrived in 2019 with solid support and improvements, but failed to ignite the same level of mainstream buzz.
The stakes are arguably higher this time, as Ubisoft has endured a turbulent few years marked by project cancellations, studio closures and layoffs – with Massive itself recently undergoing restructuring to refocus on The Division franchise and its Snowdrop engine.
The studio’s most recent release – Star Wars Outlaws – underperformed commercially in 2024, intensifying pressure on its next major project.
While Ubisoft has yet to show gameplay or confirm a release window, support for The Division 2 continues, and the publisher appears keen to rebuild confidence around one of its most recognisable modern franchises.
