Splitgate Arena Reloaded is expanding this week with a fast-paced Arena Royale mode that blends battle royale rules with classic arena shooter action to reduce downtime and keep matches tight and combat-focused.
Developer 1047 Games is expanding Splitgate Arena Reloaded this week with a new Arena Royale mode.
Arena Royale launches on January 22, 2026 and blends Splitgate’s portal-driven arena combat with battle royale-style rules.
Matches feature 24 players split into six squads of four, but unlike traditional battle royales, the mode is designed to match the pace and length of a standard arena game.
As long as one teammate remains alive, fallen squad members can respawn, keeping the action flowing and downtime to a minimum.
Once the final circle begins, respawns are disabled and survival becomes the sole focus.
According to 1047 Games, Arena Royale is intentionally compact.
Matches take place within a single biome rather than a sprawling map, allowing the mode to emphasise constant combat, fast decision-making, and short engagements instead of long stretches of looting or traversal.
The studio has described it as a “faster, cleaner take on battle royale” that still feels true to Splitgate’s identity.
The update also introduces two new maps, with Trihard being set high above the clouds, while Runway drops players into a neon-lit cityscape inspired by Tokyo’s Shinjuku district.
An endgame mastery camo is being added for dedicated players, alongside a limited-time event called Teabag Takeover, which rewards players for – quite literally – teabagging opponents to earn themed cosmetic unlocks.
The event begins on January 23.
Splitgate Arena Reloaded is itself a reboot, and was originally announced as Splitgate 2, the sequel was pulled back into beta last year following player feedback and internal layoffs at the studio.
It relaunched under its current name in December 2025, and while Steam player counts remain modest, 1047 Games has said engagement metrics alone “don’t measure fun”.
